This is a wonderful place for camping. Beautiful scenery and the most helpful and pleasant people there to assist with anything you might need. We had a wonderful time and definitely be back. This was our second trip there and it was just as enjoyable as the first. Thank you for everything!
It was wonderful. Very polite. Got to roam around the ranch saw a plethora of animals. Listening to the coyotes at sunrise and sunset. Watching the monarch butterflies fly through camp was magical. The ranch operator and his wife were so polite and nice the doggo too!. They were able to help out with fire wood. Clean facilities, drinking water available. Just great.
We had a wonderful time camping during spring break with our family. The grounds were beautiful, well maintained and easy to find. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful all throughout our stay. We navigated the grounds easily, the signage was clear and easy to follow. The engraved scriptures and crosses were a lovely addition, and brought us such peace during our stay. We fell in love with the place, it easily became a top favorite camping destination for us!
Beautiful piece of property with great views of sunrise and sunset. The tree house at the refuge campsite is awesome and allows for an amazing sunset view. Bathrooms were fantastic and the couple hosting Dom and Carole are attentive and sweet as can be. Dec 2024
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Lake Godstone. Carol and Dom were very friendly and helpful. The campground and restrooms were very clean. We stayed at the treehouse campsite. Our grandkids loved the treehouse and swings. We do plan on camping there again.
This was the most amazing camping experience! 3 families stayed at the Refuge and there was so much room for us to spread out and it was super secluded. Plenty of shade to go even when it’s a bit warmer. The kids had a blast in the treehouse and the cross was a beautiful reminder to connect with Jesus in the beauty of the surroundings and fun times with friends and family. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Truly one of the best private camping spots one could find! April 2024
Don and Carol are absolutely wonderful. They keep the camp grounds clean, checked on us everyday. Very lovely people. I would like to book Refuge , our favorite spot to camp for October 2024.
We spent a week and a half at Lake Godstone in October 2023. By far, this was the best camp I have ever been to in the US. The camp ground itself is well thought out and built. The comfort station bathrooms and showers are like something you would find in your own home. We stayed at the Refuge site and the Roost (during a sever thunderstorm) and both were fantastic! As wonderful as this place is what really sets it apart are the people. Jim (the owner), Rick (the manager), Dom and Carol (the host)...each of them bent over backwards to make our stay as easy and fun as humanly possible. Fishing, hiking, night time wildlife (green light) tour, etc. They even brought things to us that we needed! ice, wood, supplies. You couldn't ask for better host. Dom, Carol, it was perfect! Thank you!
It's so fantastic that we want to come back every weekend! What a nice place to be in peace close to DFW! The host is great and all his crew outstanding! We will be back soon. March 2023
Plenty of room for three families. We had a smaller pop up camper and a couple tents. The treehouse was great for the tent to be under during the rain. We had to leave a couple days early due to the rainstorm but other than that we loved our stay there. We got a little fishing in, played some kickball and baseball at the field, saw an armadillo and deer during daytime. There’s a nice large campfire ring at the campsite. The camp hosts are very friendly! We plan to come back in the spring! Nov 30, 2022
