Activities for Spiritual Renewal & Group Bonding at Lake Godstone
At Lake Godstone, our serene 188-acre private lake retreat in Graford, Texas, offers the perfect setting for your church family camp, youth retreat, or choir getaway. Whether you seek quiet moments with the Lord, meaningful fellowship, or joyful group activities, you’ll discover countless ways to renew your faith, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories in God’s beautiful creation.
Peaceful Relaxation & Scenic Views
Hundreds of tranquil spots across the campus invite you to sit and simply be — alone for personal reflection or gathered with family and friends. Enjoy sweeping valley views from the east side of the property or breathtaking sunrise and sunset vistas that can be seen from almost anywhere on the grounds.
Lake & Water Activities
Fishing is a favorite pastime with seven docks (six partially covered), two fishing ponds, and abundant shoreline access around our 40-foot-deep private lake. Cast a line from the lodge porch, a private dock, or any of our docks — all equipped with fish feeders, swim ladders, and boat moorings. Tackle and bait are available at our on-site store.
Non-motorized boating creates safe, family-friendly fun. Lodge guests enjoy complimentary use of canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, a rowboat, and a flat-bottom fishing boat. Each dock also features night lighting and fish-cleaning stations. Motorized watercraft are not permitted.
Swimming and snorkeling are safe and refreshing for all ages. Swim ladders are provided at every dock, and floating lily pads at both ends of the lake offer spots for diving and sunbathing. A private water slide is available for lodge guests (with removable ladder). Please note: no lifeguards are on duty — adult supervision is required.
Trails & Outdoor Exploration
The Tranquil Trail is a beautifully marked 4-mile, 6-foot-wide path that winds gently through forested areas and upper meadows. Multiple benches and resting spots make it ideal for peaceful hikes, mountain biking, or simply pausing to enjoy nature. Porta-potties and a full comfort station with showers are conveniently located along the route.
Sports & Recreational Fun
Our lighted sports field complex includes a soccer/baseball practice field, basketball court, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and picnic areas. Additional family favorites include playgrounds (one fenced sand playground at the lodge and a grass playground with swing set at the Guest Home), a sandy beach area near the dam spillway, and a private horse stall and fenced pasture at the Guest Home.
Evening Fellowship & Night Sky Viewing
Gather around one of our 19 large rock fire pits (including a spacious 6-foot steel fire pit at the lodge with seating for 30–40 people). Firewood, s’mores kits, and more are available at the store or through our resident ranch managers. The upper deck of the lodge offers comfortable seating for 12 with stunning Milky Way views. An observatory with telescope is also available at the sports field. Our remote location means exceptionally low light pollution for unforgettable stargazing.
Wildlife, Nature & Photography
Elevated wildlife viewing stations with feeding stations and green lighting provide wonderful opportunities to observe deer, raccoons, birds, fox, and other native wildlife. Spring wildflowers are spectacular, and the property is a photographer’s dream — especially for sunrise, sunset, and night photography.
Spiritual Worship & Reflection
A one-mile trail from the lodge to the camping area features Beatitude Stones with seating at each station, creating natural places for quiet prayer and meditation. Large illuminated crosses stand at both the Top of the Dam and Refuge Group Campgrounds, offering powerful reminders of faith throughout the property.
Indoor Amenities & Comforts
Our 500 sq. ft. air-conditioned classroom includes a large-screen TV with Roku, Apple TV, HDMI, couches, and tables — perfect for teaching sessions, meetings, or family movie nights. Campus-wide free WiFi supports calling and streaming.
